Start With Your Records
This guide is free. Begin with one small step, and pause whenever you need to.
1. Open the official VA website
Open the official VA website in your own browser and choose Sign in. Keep your password and verification codes private. Vet AI Portal does not need your VA sign-in details.
2. Save your Blue Button report
In My HealtheVet, look for the Blue Button report download in your medical records. Save the PDF on your own device, then check that it opens.
3. Save your decision letters
Use the VA claim, decision review, or appeal status tool to find available letters. Keep every page, including the reasons for the decision.
4. Check what you have
Check that the files open and the pages are readable. Blue Button is a health-record report, not your complete claims file. If something is missing, ask VA or your representative for help.
5. Keep the originals private
Keep your original files on your own device. Medical uploads and personal results are not available here yet. Do not send medical records, Social Security numbers, or dates of birth through contact or intake forms.
You do not have to finish everything today. Review support options only when you are ready. You may also work with an accredited VSO or an attorney of your choice.
